Summary:
With over 7 years of clinical experience, Shurooq is a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist with professional experience across India and the United Arab Emirates. She graduated from Manipal University in 2016 and has since worked extensively with children, adolescents, and adults presenting with a wide range of communication, feeding, and swallowing difficulties.
Shurooq relocated to Dubai in January 2020 and holds an active Dubai Health Authority (DHA) license. She practices using a holistic and evidence-based approach, tailoring intervention plans to meet each individual’s unique developmental, sensory, motor, and communication needs.
She is a Certified Oral Placement Therapist (OPT) through TalkTools® USA, utilizing auditory, visual, and tactile strategies to improve oral-motor skills and speech clarity. She is trained in PROMPT, a tactile-kinesthetic approach that supports accurate speech sound production through direct motor guidance.
Her clinical expertise includes Gestalt Language Processing and DIR/Floortime, allowing her to support neurodivergent individuals,particularly children with autism spectrum disorder,through relationship-based developmentally appropriate interventions. She also has foundational training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), enabling her to integrate behavioral principles into functional and individualized therapy plans.
